EuroSUP Surf 2026 came to a close today at Barreltopia Salinas Longboard Festival, following two days of competition organised by the European Surfing Federation in collaboration with the Spanish Surfing Federation.
Despite generally small swell across much of Europe, Salinas once again delivered contestable waves thanks to its unique north-facing orientation. Clean conditions throughout Finals Day provided the perfect stage for Europe's best SUP riders to battle for the 2026 continental titles.
The event also highlighted the strong partnership between the ESF and FESurfing, whose continued collaboration has helped establish Salinas as one of Europe's leading venues for international surfing competitions.
Julieta Rodríguez-Villamil shines in the Junior division
Spain enjoyed a memorable championship, led by Julieta Rodríguez-Villamil, who claimed the Junior Girls European title after another dominant performance. The talented 16-year-old, already recognised for competing across multiple board sports, confirmed her status as one of Europe's brightest young talents. France's Elise Thiolent secured the silver medal, while Portugal's Margarida Faria completed the podium.

In the Junior Boys division, France celebrated victory through Léo Le Tohic Casareggio, who delivered his strongest surfing of the event in the final. Germany's Antonin Meier finished second, followed by Italy's Luca Cretto, while Spain's Rodrigo Basilio placed fourth.

Spain claims both Open European titles
The Open Women's final produced one of the highlights of the championship. France's Camille Dubrana held the lead for much of the heat before Spain's Alazne Aurrecoechea produced an outstanding right-hand wave worth more than nine points to take control and secure the European title. Fellow Spaniard Julieta Rodríguez-Villamil added a second medal to her championship with the silver medal, while Camille Dubrana and Elise Thiolent finished third and fourth respectively.

In the Open Men's final, Juan de los Reyes delivered a powerful and committed performance to claim the European title. Combining excellent wave selection with progressive surfing, the Spaniard posted a two-wave total of 14.57 points to secure victory. Italy's Leonard Nika earned the silver medal, France's Pierre Girardeau finished third, and Portugal's Tomás Lacerda completed the final in fourth place.

Spain tops the team standings
Spain finished the event comfortably at the top of the overall team rankings with 5,140 points, thanks to victories in both Open divisions and the Junior Girls title, alongside several additional podium finishes.
France claimed second place with 4,573 points, followed by Portugal with 3,648 points. Italy finished fourth with 2,700 points, while Poland (2,020 points) and Germany (1,915 points) completed the six-nation standings.
With the Surf discipline now complete, attention turns to Melilla, where the second and final stage of the 2026 European SUP Championships will take place in October. The event will feature the Race disciplines, including Sprint, Technical Race, Long Distance and Team Relay, where the overall European team champions will be decided.
Following an outstanding week in Salinas, EuroSUP Surf 2026 once again demonstrated the strength of European Stand-Up Paddle surfing and the successful collaboration between the European Surfing Federation and the Spanish Surfing Fedeartion in delivering world-class international competition.
